Maximum authorised axle loads

Single axles	10 tonnes
Driving axles	11.5 tonnes
Tandem axles of ordinary trailers and semi-trailers	11 tonnes if the distance between the axles is less than 1.0 metres 16 tonnes if the distance between the axles is between 1.0 metre and less than 1.3 metres 18 tonnes if the distance between the axles is between 1.3 metres and less than 1.8 metres 20 tonnes if the distance between the axles is 1.8 metres or more
Tandem axles of motor vehicles	11,5 tonnes if the distance between the axles is less than 1.0 metres 16 tonnes if the distance between the axles is between 1.0 metre and less than 1.3 metres 18 tonnes if the distance between the axles is between 1.3 metres and less than 1.8 metres or 19 tonnes if the distance between the axles is between 1.3 metres and less than 1.8 metres, where the driving axle is fitted with twin tyres and air suspension or suspension recognised as being equivalent within the Community or where each driving axle is fitted with twin tyres and the maximum weight of each axle does not exceed 9.5 tonnes
Tri-axles	21 tonnes if the distance between the axles is 1.3 metres or less 24 tonnes if the distance between the axles is over 1.3 metres and up to 1.4 metres
